The Challenge
In order to provide
better service and additional forensic services, Anoka County Law
Enforcement personnel needed a new facility. They sought a modern
facility that could meet their current needs and have room to expand
in the future.
The Solution
Anoka County
decided to construct a brand new $27.5 million public safety
building and regional forensics lab. The 135,000 square foot
facility is the new home of more than 200 law enforcement officers,
forensic scientists, and support staff (cite:
Star Tribune). Haldeman-Homme, Inc. was
chosen based on their reputation of providing quality lab
furnishings and extensive experience designing and outfitting
laboratories. Anoka County officials visited Haldeman-Homme’s onsite
showroom for an interactive representation of what the future
forensics lab would look like. Haldeman-Homme worked closely with
the project team including Lt. Steven Johnson, Tri County Regional
Forensic Lab Director; McClaren, Wilson & Lawrie, Inc. forensics
architects, and Beutow & Associates architects to achieve the goals
and exceed the expectations for this project.
The Results
Haldeman-Homme’s
laboratory expertise and ability to work closely with the project
team resulted in the opening of Anoka County’s state of
the art public safety and regional forensic laboratory on December
10th, 2009.
Haldeman-Homme
provided laboratory design support, project management,
installation, and a variety of Thermo Scientific,
Spacesaver,
Porter, and
Nuaire products. The laboratory was outfitted with
Thermo Scientific wood and
stainless steel casework with epoxy resin
countertops and windowsills. Haldeman-Homme also provided mobile tables, Safeaire II fume hoods, and Nuaire Biological Safety
cabinets. Spacesaver High Density Mobile Storage systems and
DSM
Evidence Lockers allow Anoka County to securely save money and space
by consolidating their storage and evidence handling needs into one
area. Porter wall pads were installed throughout the facility and
water saving fixtures, faucets, gas valves, and localized exhaust
extractors help lower energy costs and reduce the facility’s carbon
footprint. Finally, a customized bike rack system was designed and
installed by Haldeman-Homme for Anoka County’s bicycle patrol unit.
This project was a
great success and the project team worked together to complete this
project on time and under budget. Contact us today to find out how
we can exceed your expectations!
