St. Michael-Albertville High School in St. Michael, Minnesota
The Challenge
St. Michael-Albertville Public School’s enrollment had swollen
to a point where their current facilities could no longer meet
the school district's educational demands. They sought a
first-class facility that could meet their current needs as well
as the needs of the growing local population for years to come.
The Solution
St. Michael-Albertville Public Schools chose to construct a
brand new, 410,000 square feet, state-of-the-art high school and
converted their current high school into a second middle school.
These changes made it feasible to meet the educational demands
of the growing district now and in the future. Haldeman-Homme
was contacted for their expertise in educational and athletic
facility design and for their large variety of products and
services offered. Haldeman-Homme (and sister company
Anderson-Ladd) worked closely with the project team which
included St. Michael-Albertville Public Schools’ Facilities
Manager, Terry Zerwas; general contractor, Donlar; and ARY
architects to understand the goals of this project and exceed
the expectations of everyone involved.
The Results
Haldeman-Homme’s ability to work cohesively with the project
team to make their vision a reality resulted in the opening of
the brand new St. Michael-Albertville High School for the start
of the 2009-2010 school year.
The project included student and athletic lockers by DeBourgh, auditorium seats by Irwin, Porter wrestling mat storage and a variety of Spacesaver storage solutions. Anderson-Ladd also contributed to the project by designing and installing the field house flooring, which was a Robbins Pulastic, Spike-proof, synthetic flooring surface with inlayed basketball, volleyball and badminton courts.
