Lawn Mower Safety
 
The Lawn Mower Safety module introduces students to the necessary safety tips they should use when operating a walk-behind mower or riding mower.  This module includes a basic small engine maintenance activity while providing additional information about safety operations of various small engine and yard maintenance equipment.
 


 
Knowledge
  • Explain the formula for mixing oil and fuel for a 2-cycle engine
  • Discuss basic small engine maintenance
  • Discuss safety techniques when operating lawn equipment

Skills

  • Learn to maintain, store, and use lawn equipment
  • Remove, install, inspect, and clean lawn equipment and parts
  • Demonstrate steps necessary to start and stop a mower
  • Change oil in a 4-cycle engine
  • Mix oil/fuel for a 2-cycle engine
