Electricity & Electronics

Thyristor & Power

The Thyristor and Power Control Circuits Course provides comprehensive, hands-on instruction in the fundamental terminology, principles, and applications of thyristor and power control circuits. Following a carefully designed instructional program, students become familiar with the Silicon Controlled Rectifier (SCR), Triac AC Power Control, SCR DC Gate, SCR AC Gate, and UJT.

Magnetism & Electromagnetism

The objective of the Magnetism/Electromagnetism Circuit Board and Course is to familiarize students with Magnetic Poles, Magnetic Lines of Force, Electromagnets and Solenoids, Control Circuits, Latch Circuits, and Buzzers.

The course provides comprehensive, hands-on instruction in the terminology, principles, and applications of circuitry used in magnetism and electromagnetism.

Motors, Generators, & Controls

The Motors, Generators, and Controls Circuit Board and Course provides comprehensive, hands-on instruction in the terminology, principles, and operations of the DC motor, AC synchronous motor, phase shifter, and stepper motor.

Following a carefully designed instructional program, students become proficient with analog and pulse-width modulated (PWM) DC motor positioning, analog and PWM DC motor speed control, variable frequency speed control of an AC synchronous motor, operation of a tachgenerator circuit, and speed and position control of a stepper motor with optional computer interface.

Power Transistors & GTO Thyristors

The Power Transistors and GTO Thyristors course provides comprehensive hands-on training in the terminology, principles, and applications of self-commutated switching devices used in power electronics.

In this course, students learn the basic operation and switching characteristics of the MOSFET, isolated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT), fast IGBT, bipolar transistor, Darlington transistor, and GTO thyristor.

Students also learn how to match a free-wheeling diode with each of these self-commutated switching devices.

Synchro-Servo Training System

The Lab-Volt Synchro-Servo Training System is a portable, self-contained modular training system that enables students to observe and analyze the fundamental components of open- and closed-loop servo-synchro systems and associated electronic circuits.

With this system, students can build servo-synchro systems of their own by interconnecting components, thus reinforcing their knowledge of components and circuitry and reinforcing their comprehension of block diagrams.
